Fall Bulbs

Anemone
Rich and varied group of red, white, blue and purple flowers. A beautiful cut flower. Special notes: Better to plant new bulbs each year - does not rebloom well the 2nd year. Soak bulbs 2-3 hours before planting. Plant 2" deep in sunny area.

Allium
A striking and long-lasting flower to add to arrangements. Hardy, sun-loving and easy to grow - available in shades of red, blue, yellow and white. Special notes: Plant in sun or semi-shade. Bloom from late spring through summer.

Amaryllis
Large, trumpet shaped flowers in pink, red, salmon, orange and striped varieties. Special notes: Leave tip of bulb about 1" above ground when planting. Bulbs multiply quickly -plant in sun or semi-shade.

Candidum (Easter Lily)
Easy to grow and multiply; traditionally used for Easter-time arrangements. Special notes: Probably will not flower at Easter but will do so during month of May.

Crocus
Short blooms make them excellent for rock gardens, between stepping stones or rocks. White, yellow, purple, lavender and striped varieties. Special notes: Very early Spring bloomer - like sunny area. Do not naturalize in our area.

Daffodils
One of the best spring bloomers, adapted to all areas of Texas. Flowers are Narcissus yellow, white, orange and pale pink. Special notes: Many are planted here each year and wallflower beautifully 1st year - but not profusely 2nd year. plant in sun or semi-shade. Best planted in informal masses.

Freesia
Prized for richly fragrant flowers. Available in white, pink, red, lavender, purple, blue, yellow, orange. Excellent cut flowers. Special notes: Grow to 18". Likes sun or semi-shade.

Hyacinth
Bell-shaped, fragrant flowers in loose or tight spikes -pink, blue, white and yellow. Special notes: Refrigerate for 6 weeks before planting. Make wonderful container flowers. Best planted in massed groupings.

Iris (Bearded) Rhizomes
Showy flowers - outstanding colors. Special notes: Must be planted in elevated beds. Do not cover more than 1"-2" deep, laying them in a slanted position. Fertilize beds several times a year with 0-20-0 or Bone Meal.

Iris (Dutch) Bulbs
One of the best bulbs for our area. Medium-size orchid flowers in blue, white, yellow, wine-red and multi-colored. Special notes: Bulbs multiply and should be divided every 2nd year during October. Fertilize Iris beds several times a year with 0-20-0 or Bone Meal. Like sunny areas.

Lycoris Spider Lilies
Narrow, strap-shaped leaves with clusters of red, pink or yellow flowers. Special notes: Spider lilies do best when planted in tight clumps with bulbs almost touching. Like a shady area.

Leucojum Snowflake
Clusters of delicate white flowers. Plant in rock gardens and well drained areas. Special notes: Naturalize easily. Do not disturb until really crowded, then dig up and divide.

Muscari Grape Hyacinth
Intensely fragrant blue spiked flower, Should be planted in masses. Special notes: Blooms early in Spring, will naturalize freely. Plant in sunny area.

Ornithogalum Star of Bethlehem
Star-shaped white or cream flowers in tall or rounded clusters. Special notes: Easy to grow in borders or pots. Plant in sun or semi-shade.

Oxalis
Bright spring blooms in shades of red, pink and white. Good for low borders and rock gardens. Special notes: Will grow in most soils and multiply freely. Fertilize lightly once a month with BR-61. Plant in sun or semi-shade.

Ranunculus
Beautiful blooms in shades of red, pink, yellow and white. With normal care, wallflower over period of 2-3 months. Special notes: Soak bulbs in plain water not more than 3 hours before planting. Plant in full sun if possible and cover only 1 112" -finger-parts of bulbs are planted down. Fertilize once a month with BR-61.

Tulips
Buy early for best selection but don't plant until December. Vary in color, form, height and general character. Special notes: Prepare planting area early, using plenty of sand and humus. Refrigerate bulbs at least 6 weeks before planting. Plant immediately after removing from refrigerator - 2"-3" deep in sun or semi-shade.

Watsonia Bugle Lilies
Smaller version of gladiola, blooming in late Spring or Summer. Special notes: Fertilize lightly once a month during growing season with BR-61. Plant in sunny area.
